Whether you’re lapping the terrain park at Big White or skiing tree runs at Silver Star, a helmet that’s comfortable enough to forget about is one you’ll wear every run. Salomon’s Brigade MIPS pairs a clean, street-style look with technical protection for the mountain. Salomon combines the MIPS® Brain Protection System, which reduces the force of angled impacts, with its patented EPS4D foam, which maximizes energy absorption from both oblique and vertical shocks. The Custom Dial 360 V system lets you adjust the fit both horizontally and vertically, and MaxFit construction with 3D earpads improves comfort and hearing. It weighs 510 g with medium-level ventilation, and the earpads are removable.

The Brigade MIPS is for skiers and snowboarders who want MIPS protection in a low-key, freestyle-inspired helmet that works across the whole mountain, from park laps to groomers. It’s a unisex fit and pairs especially well with Salomon goggles, which are designed to integrate with Salomon helmets.

FAQ

Q1: How do I find the right size Brigade MIPS?
Measure around your head about 1 cm above your eyebrows and ears, then match that measurement to Salomon’s size chart. If you’re between sizes, try both on. The helmet should feel snug all around before you tighten the Custom Dial 360 V, which then fine-tunes the fit horizontally and vertically.

Q2: Is the Brigade MIPS compatible with my goggles?
Salomon designs its goggles, such as the Sentry Pro range, to integrate with Salomon helmets for fit and airflow. Many other goggle brands will also work, but frame shape varies, so bring your goggles in and our staff will check for a gap at the forehead or pressure on your nose.

Q3: Why does helmet fit matter for safety, and how do I check mine?
A helmet can only protect you properly if it stays in position during a fall. A loose helmet can shift on impact and expose your forehead or the back of your head. To check yours: the front edge should sit about one to two finger-widths above your eyebrows. The helmet shouldn’t rock forward, backward or side to side when you shake your head with the chin strap fastened. The strap should be snug, with room for no more than one finger underneath. Our staff can check all of this with you in-store.
