FAQ

Q.How do I know if these bindings are compatible with my boots?
The S/Lab Shift² 16 MultiNorm is built for Alpine, GripWalk, and touring adult boot soles, so it works with most alpine and AT boots in one binding. Bring your boots into either Fresh Air location and our team will confirm fit and compatibility before mounting.

Q.Do I need to get these bindings mounted, or can I install them myself?
Bindings should always be professionally mounted and DIN-tested — this isn't a DIY job, and it matters even more on a touring setup where you're relying on the binding in the backcountry. Our certified technicians will mount your Shift² 16 MultiNorm bindings and set your DIN correctly based on your height, weight, boot sole length, and ability level at either Kelowna location.

Q.What DIN setting is right for me, and why does it matter?
Your DIN setting controls how much force it takes for your boot to release from the binding in a fall — set it too high and you risk injury from a binding that won't release; too low and you risk unwanted pre-release. It depends on your height, weight, boot sole length, age, and ability level, which is why we always set it in-store rather than by guesswork.

SPECS

TOE PIECE

Hybrid Toe: Ultimate elastic travel that holds the boot back as shocks get bigger, compatible with all normed boots with no compromise on safety or performance.

Elastic Travel: The ultimate elastic travel on the wings holds the boot back through bigger shocks and minimizes the risk of pre-release.

Crampon System: Ability to attach dedicated crampons to the binding.

XL Wings: Long wings that envelop the tip of the boot to provide increased power transmission and confidence.

Sliding Toe Pedal: A spring-mounted pedal allowing lateral movement and re-centering, so any normed boot can release in a lateral fall.

Easy Climbing Aids Manipulation: Ensures easy switching between climbing aid positions with your poles.
