Product details

Storm days at Big White and SilverStar are when the Okanagan’s best snow falls, and when you need a shell you can trust. The Salomon Absolute 3L is built for exactly those days. Its AdvancedSkin Dry 3-layer fabric is rated 20,000mm waterproof and 20,000g breathable, so it blocks wind-driven snow while letting heat escape on hard laps through the trees. Because it’s an uninsulated shell, you can layer it to suit the day, from frigid January mornings to soft, slushy spring afternoons.

WHO IS THIS FOR

The Absolute 3L is for skiers and snowboarders who chase fresh snow and want one shell that works in any weather. It’s a great match for riders who ski Big White and SilverStar all season and like to build their warmth with layers rather than rely on a single insulated jacket. It also suits anyone who runs warm, hikes for turns, or wants a versatile shell that works from the first storm in December through to spring.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right size and fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to talk gear and activity with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

FAQ

Q1: How does Salomon sizing run — true to size, or should I size up/down (and does it accommodate a base/mid-layer)?
The Absolute 3L has a regular fit and is designed for layering, so most skiers will find it true to size with room for a base layer and a mid-layer underneath. On Salomon’s product photos, a 6'2" model wears a size M. If you plan to wear a bulky insulated mid-layer on the coldest days, try the jacket on in-store with that layer so you can find the right size.

Q2: Is this jacket warm and waterproof enough for storm days at Big White and SilverStar?
For waterproofing, yes. Its 20,000mm AdvancedSkin Dry 3-layer fabric is built for heavy snowfall and wet storm days. It’s an uninsulated shell, though, so warmth comes from what you layer underneath. On cold, dry Okanagan days, pair it with a warm base layer and an insulated mid-layer. On milder spring days, a light base layer may be all you need.

Q3: How do I care for AdvancedSkin Dry fabric to maintain waterproofing and breathability?
Close all zippers, then machine wash cold (30°C) with like colours. Don’t use fabric softener, which can clog the fabric and reduce breathability. Don’t bleach or dry clean the jacket. Tumble dry on low. Washing your shell regularly removes the dirt and body oils that can reduce its water repellency over time.
