Product details

Okanagan ski days can swing from crisp, sub-zero mornings to wet storm afternoons, and the Salomon Spark is built to handle both. Inspired by freeride skiing, it pairs a 20,000mm waterproof, 20,000g breathable AdvancedSkin Dry shell with 60g of PrimaLoft insulation. That’s enough warmth for a stormy day at Big White or SilverStar without overheating on hard laps. Layer up for January cold snaps or down for slushy spring afternoons, and you have one jacket that covers the whole season.

KEY FEATURES

Waterproof: AdvancedSkin Dry construction rated to 20,000mm keeps snow and wet weather out

Breathable: 20,000 g/m² moisture vapour transmission helps heat and sweat escape on hard runs

60g PrimaLoft synthetic insulation gives a strong warmth-to-weight ratio and keeps you warm even when wet

Medium warmth adapts across conditions: layer up for cold mornings, or layer down for spring days

Helmet-compatible hood fits over your helmet without restricting movement or visibility

Freeride-inspired regular fit that works on groomers and off-piste

WHO IS THIS FOR

The Spark is for skiers and snowboarders who want one versatile jacket for the whole season. It suits resort riders who split their days between groomers and off-piste terrain at Big White and SilverStar, and who want a bit of built-in warmth without the bulk of a heavily insulated jacket. It’s also a great pick for anyone who runs warm, works hard on the hill, and prefers to fine-tune warmth with layers.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right size and fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to talk gear and activity with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

FAQ

Q1: How does Salomon sizing run — true to size, or should I size up/down (and does it accommodate a base/mid-layer)?
The Spark has a regular fit, and most skiers will find it true to size. Because it’s built to be layered up or down, there’s room for a base layer and a light mid-layer underneath. If you plan to wear a thicker mid-layer on the coldest days, try the jacket on in-store with that layer so you can find the right size.

Q2: Is this jacket warm and waterproof enough for storm days at Big White and SilverStar?
For waterproofing, yes. Its 20,000mm AdvancedSkin Dry construction handles heavy snowfall and wet storm days. For warmth, its 60g of PrimaLoft insulation gives medium warmth, which suits cool to moderately cold days on its own. On the coldest Okanagan days, add a warm base layer and a mid-layer underneath. On spring days, a light base layer is usually all you need.

Q3: How do I care for AdvancedSkin Dry and PrimaLoft insulation to maintain waterproofing and breathability?
Close all zippers, then machine wash cold (30°C). Use a liquid detergent, and never use powder detergent or fabric softener, since these can clog the fabric and reduce its performance. Don’t bleach, iron, or dry clean the jacket. Tumble dry on low and remove it from the dryer right away, which also helps the synthetic insulation regain its loft.
