What’s the difference between skate skis and classic cross-country skis?
Skate skis are shorter and stiffer, with a smooth base designed only for glide. You push off the edges in a V-shaped motion, similar to ice skating. Classic skis need a grip zone under the foot so you can kick and glide straight ahead in set tracks. The Equipe Pro Skate is a dedicated skate ski, so it’s designed for the wide, groomed skate lanes rather than classic tracks.

Do new Salomon skate skis need to be waxed before using them?
The Equipe Pro Skate comes pre-waxed from the factory with Swix universal fluor-free wax. You just scrape the wax off the base and you’re ready to ski. Over the season, regular glide waxing keeps the base fast and protected, and our shop can take care of waxing for you.

What is Salomon’s Innowave core and why does it matter?
Innowave is Salomon’s ultralight honeycomb core, made from paper, glue and thin wood sidewalls. Because it’s so light and consistent, it transfers more of your energy into forward motion. In practice that means quicker acceleration, better balance and a more stable platform for a powerful skate stride.
