Can I use skate ski boots for classic cross-country skiing?
Not well. Skate boots have a stiff sole and a tall, rigid cuff for lateral push-off, which works against the forefoot flex you need for a classic kick-and-glide stride. If you want one boot for both techniques, a combi boot is the compromise. Skiers who train seriously in both styles usually run a dedicated pair for each.

Is a carbon cross-country ski boot worth the upgrade?
For skiers who train often or race, usually yes. Carbon lets the chassis and cuff be stiffer and more precisely shaped without adding weight, so less of your energy is lost to boot flex and more goes into the ski. Casual or occasional skiers will notice the difference less.

Do I need different skis and poles for skate skiing?
Yes. Skate skis are shorter and stiffer than classic skis, with no grip zone, and skate poles are longer than classic poles to help you push through the longer stride. Your boot also needs to match your binding system. This boot is Prolink, so it works with Prolink, NNN and Turnamic bindings.
