Product details

The Salomon départ. 02 is a twin tip park ski built for skiers who treat the park features at Big White and Silver Star as their playground. Its Freestyle Rocker profile — 23% tip rocker, camber underfoot, 20% tail rocker — gives you loose, playful pop for rails, jumps, and side hits while still holding an edge when you drop into a groomer run between laps.

KEY FEATURES

Freestyle Rocker profile (23% tip rocker / camber / 20% tail rocker) for buttery pop and easy pivoting on rails and jumps

Twin tip shape for equal performance riding forward or switch

Full Poplar woodcore for a lively, stable feel underfoot that filters vibrations

Ti Binding Reinforcement — a titanal insert edge-to-edge underfoot for added power and hard-snow edge grip

Full Sandwich Sidewalls for stable, precise edge contact

100% recycled base for solid glide with a lower environmental footprint

WHO IS THIS FOR?

The départ. 02 is built for intermediate to advanced skiers who want a playful, forgiving twin tip for park laps, side hits, and freestyle-inspired lines around the whole mountain. Its softer flex makes butters, spins, and switch landings feel natural without giving up edge hold when the snow firms up.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right ski/board and size in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to talk with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

FAQ

What is a twin tip ski and why would I want one?
A twin tip ski has an upturned tail that mirrors the tip, so it performs the same whether you're skiing forward or switch. That makes it the standard choice for park and freestyle skiing, since it lets you land and ride away from spins, rail tricks, and switch takeoffs without the tail catching.

What flex is best for park and freestyle skiing?
Softer-flexing skis like the départ. 02 are generally easier for butters, presses, and jib-style tricks because they load and release energy more easily at lower speeds. Stiffer skis hold up better for big-air landings and higher-speed stability, so the right flex depends on whether you're mostly riding rails and jib features or hitting larger jumps.

How does the Salomon départ. 02 compare to the départ. 01?
The départ. 02 has a noticeably softer flex than the départ. 01 while keeping solid torsional stiffness, and it drops the tail's upward kick for a flatter, lower-profile tail shape. The overall turn radius and core construction carry over, so riders coming from the 01 get a similar surfy, playful feel but with an easier, more forgiving flex underfoot.

BINDING COMPATBILITY

We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
