Family rides up Knox Mountain's winding road are where growing riders really feel the difference that proper gears make. The Wahoo 26 Path is Trek's largest kids' bike. It's built for older kids and young teens who have outgrown a 24" bike but aren't quite ready for an adult frame. Its Alpha Silver Aluminum frame keeps it light enough to handle easily and tough enough for everyday bumps and jumps. A microSHIFT 1x8 drivetrain with a thumb-activated trigger shifter and an 11-38 range makes climbs manageable. Wide 2" Bontrager Connection Comp tyres roll fast on pavement and grip on packed paths. Linear-pull rim brakes with kids' levers give confident stopping on the way back down.

KEY FEATURES

Frame: Alpha Silver Aluminum with upright, hybrid-style geometry that mimics an adult bike, paired with an alloy Wahoo 26" fork with a ThruSkew 5mm QR.

Drivetrain: microSHIFT Acolyte 1x8 with an SL-M6285 trigger shifter, an M5180S rear derailleur, an 11-38 cassette, and an alloy crank with a 28T steel ring, chainguard, and 152mm arms.

Brakes: Alloy linear-pull (V-brake) rim brakes front and rear.

Wheels / Tires: Alloy 26" 28-hole rims on Formula alloy hubs, with Bontrager Connection Comp 26x2.00" tyres for speed on pavement and grip on paths.

Recommended age / height: Ages 13+, riders 147–160 cm (58–63") tall.

Wheel size: 26"

Hand brake type: Kids' alloy brake levers sized for smaller hands.

Built to grow with them: A padded saddle with an integrated seatpost and a Blendr light mount, a Blendr-compatible stem, room for tyres up to 26x2.40" (26x2.20" with fenders), and a 125 kg / 275 lb maximum total weight limit.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

The Wahoo 26 Path is for tweens and young teens around 147–160 cm tall who have outgrown their 24" bike and are ready for bigger wheels and more speed. It suits riders heading to school, meeting friends across town, or joining longer family rides on greenways and rail trails. They'll appreciate the light, grown-up feel and the easy thumb shifting on climbs. Parents will like the durable aluminum build and the higher 125 kg weight limit, which gives growing riders plenty of room.
Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to work with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

HOW TO SET UP

We'll make sure the Wahoo 26 Path fits your rider before it goes home. Our team will set the saddle height for efficient pedalling while keeping the ground within easy reach. We'll adjust the brake levers so they're comfortable to reach and squeeze, and show your rider how the thumb shifter works so gear changes feel natural right away. We're also happy to check their helmet fit. As they grow, bring the bike back and we'll raise the saddle, tune the brakes and gears, and keep everything running smoothly.

FAQ

Q1: What size Trek Wahoo 26 Path do I need?
Trek recommends the Wahoo 26 Path for riders about 147–160 cm (58–63") tall, generally ages 13 and up. Riders shorter than that range will likely fit better on the Wahoo 24 Path (130–150 cm). Riders at the top of the range, or with longer legs, may be ready for an adult frame in XS or S. Height and inseam matter more than age, so bring your rider into either Fresh Air location and we'll confirm the fit in person. See Trek's geometry chart (linked above) for full measurements.

Q2: Is the Trek Wahoo 26 Path right for the Mission Creek Greenway?
Yes, it's an ideal Greenway bike. The 2" Bontrager Connection Comp tyres roll smoothly on paved sections and hold traction on the packed gravel stretches, and the 11-38 gearing makes short climbs easy. The light aluminum frame helps younger riders keep up on longer family outings. It's also a great fit for the Okanagan Rail Trail and rides to school or around the neighbourhood.

Q3: How do I know when my child has outgrown their bike?
Watch for knees coming close to the handlebars while pedalling, a saddle already raised to its maximum safe height, or a cramped, hunched riding position. Once riders are taller than about 160 cm (63"), the top of Trek's recommended range for the Wahoo 26 Path, most are ready for an adult frame. If you're not sure, bring your rider and their bike into either Fresh Air location and we'll check the fit.
