The Hydraulink Trails and Okanagan Mountain Park backcountry reward bikes that are equally at home powering up sustained, rock-laden climbs and holding composure on technical descents — and the Trek Rail+ 8 Gen 5 is engineered to do exactly that. Positioned one tier above the Rail+ 5 in Trek's 2025 alloy lineup, the Rail+ 8 steps up to a RockShox ZEB Select fork with 38 mm stanchions, SRAM DB8 four-piston brakes, a Shimano XT/SLX 12-speed drivetrain, and burlier Bontrager Brevard Pro XR 2.5" tyres — all wrapped around the same Alpha Platinum Aluminum frame, Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor, and 800 Wh integrated battery that makes the Rail+ platform one of the most capable full-powered e-MTBs available at this price point. Like every Rail+ Gen 5, it runs a mullet wheel setup (29" front, 27.5" rear on MD–XL), features Trek's Mino Link and progression flip chips for geometry tuning, and is compatible with the Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh range extender for days that demand extra range.

WHO IS THIS FOR? |
The Rail+ 8 Gen 5 is the sweet spot in Trek's alloy Rail+ lineup for the rider who wants to push into genuine enduro territory without moving to a carbon frame. This is the confident intermediate or advancing rider who sessions Hydraulink or Okanagan Mountain Park regularly, values SRAM four-piston braking on long descents, and wants a fork with enough stanchion diameter and damper quality to handle square-edged hits at speed — but who doesn't need electronic shifting or carbon wheels to feel at home on the bike. The step up from the Rail+ 5 to the Rail+ 8 is meaningful: burlier suspension, more capable brakes, a wider 780 mm handlebar, and thicker-casing 2.5" tyres that hold up better on rocky Okanagan terrain. Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to work with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425. |

HOW TO SET UP |
As a certified Trek dealer, our Fresh Air team can walk you through Bosch eBike Flow app setup, personalise your motor assist modes, and dial in the Bosch System Controller before you leave the shop. We'll set sag on both the RockShox ZEB Select fork and Super Deluxe Select+ shock to match your riding weight, and help you choose between the Rail+'s two suspension leverage rate settings — less progressive for all-day trail comfort or more progressive for sending bigger features. The ZEB's Charger RC damper gives riders meaningful compression and rebound tuning, and our staff can walk you through those adjustments as well. If you'd like to convert the Bontrager Line Comp 30 wheels to tubeless, we can handle that in-store using the included TLR sealant. We offer ongoing e-bike servicing at both locations, including Bosch firmware updates, drivetrain maintenance, and seasonal check-overs. Drop into Fresh Air Pandosy (555 Groves Ave) or Fresh Air Dilworth (1656 Dilworth Drive), or book an appointment online. |

Trek offers the Rail+ 8 Gen 5 in four sizes: SM, MD, LG, and XL — with size SM running 27.5" wheels front and rear, and sizes MD through XL using the mullet configuration (29" front / 27.5" rear). The Mino Link flip chip and optional angle-adjust headset cups (sold separately) allow meaningful geometry adjustment within each frame size. FAQ |
Q1: What size Trek Rail+ 8 Gen 5 do I need? The Rail+ 8 Gen 5 comes in SM, MD, LG, and XL. As a general starting point, SM typically suits riders around 155–170 cm, MD around 168–180 cm, LG around 178–190 cm, and XL for riders 188 cm and above — though reach preference, inseam length, and riding position all influence the right choice. Trek's geometry chart (linked in the Geometry & Sizing section above) provides full stack, reach, and tube angle figures for each size. The most reliable way to confirm your fit is to visit Fresh Air Pandosy or Fresh Air Dilworth, where our staff can size you up in person. Q2: Is the Trek Rail+ 8 Gen 5 suitable for riding Hydraulink Trails and Okanagan Mountain Park? Yes — the Rail+ 8 Gen 5 is well matched to the sustained climbing and aggressive descending that characterises both Hydraulink and Okanagan Mountain Park. The 160 mm of front and rear travel, 38 mm RockShox ZEB Select fork, SRAM DB8 four-piston brakes, and 2.5" Brevard Pro XR tyres give riders the capability and confidence to handle technical rock sections, rooted descents, and repeated laps without fatigue. The 800 Wh Bosch battery and the option to add the PowerMore range extender make it well suited to full-day missions in the Okanagan backcountry. Q3: How do I set up the suspension on the Rail+ 8 Gen 5 for my weight and riding style? Trek provides a suspension calculator on their website as a starting point — for both the RockShox ZEB Select fork and Super Deluxe Select+ rear shock, Trek recommends setting sag at approximately 25–30% of total travel as a baseline. From there, rebound and compression can be tuned to suit the terrain and your preferences. The Rail+ 8 also features a progression flip chip at the lower shock mount, allowing you to switch between a plusher, more linear feel for trail riding and a more progressive ramp-up for big-hit enduro features. Our Fresh Air team can walk through all of this in person — bring your riding weight and we'll help you get it dialled before you leave the shop. |
