Product details

Okanagan road rides are full of stops — wineries along the Westside, lights on Lakeshore Road, coffee in Pandosy — so clipping in and out easily matters. The Speedplay Easy Tension Cleat keeps everything that makes Speedplay's dual-sided pedal system great and adds a lighter spring, so engaging and releasing takes less effort. That makes it a good fit for riders new to clipless pedals, smaller riders, and anyone who wants a gentler release without giving up a secure connection. The dimpled, rubberized low-profile design also walks better than a typical road cleat for those mid-ride breaks.

WHO IS THIS FOR

The Easy Tension Cleat suits road riders on Speedplay pedals who want a lighter clip-in and release. That includes riders new to clipless systems, smaller or lighter cyclists, riders managing hip or knee issues, and experienced cyclists who want a gentler release on stop-and-go routes. It's designed for road riding only, so it isn't the right choice for gravel or off-road use.

Our team will help you find the right size and get your cleats set up correctly at both Kelowna locations.

FAQ

Q1: How do I find the right fit for Speedplay Easy Tension Cleats?
These cleats aren't sized like shoes. Fit depends on how your cycling shoe is drilled. They work with Speedplay-compatible 4-hole soles, which give the lowest stack height (8.5 mm), and with standard 3-hole road shoes using the included adaptor (11.5 mm stack). Bring your shoes into either location and our staff will confirm compatibility.

Q2: Are the Easy Tension Cleats compatible with my Speedplay pedals?
Yes, if you're on the current Wahoo-era range. Wahoo states that Standard Tension and Easy Tension cleats work on every current SPEEDPLAY pedal, which includes the Comp, Zero, Nano and Aero. The new design is also backwards compatible with previous Zero pedals, so old cleats work on the new design and vice versa. The cleats are not compatible with Shimano SPD-SL, Look, or other pedal systems.

Q3: What's the difference between Speedplay Easy Tension and Standard Tension cleats?
Both cleats offer the same 3-axis adjustability and 0–15° float. The Easy Tension cleat uses a lighter spring, so clipping in and out takes less force. The Standard Tension cleat is dimpled and has an integrated cleat surround for an aero advantage. The Comp is the only Speedplay pedal that includes Easy Tension cleats, so Zero, Nano and Aero riders who want a lighter release can buy the Easy Tension cleats separately.
