Product details

Okanagan winters reward riders who are prepared. When cloud settles over the valley, temperatures stay near freezing, and the roads stay damp, you need more than a basic tight. The Rapha Pro Team Winter Tights III are built for those rides. Wind-blocking front panels and a water-resistant coating protect you on cold morning laps of the Okanagan Rail Trail, and on lakeshore road loops where spray comes off the front wheel. Gridded thermal fabric holds in warmth for steady winter training and keeps you comfortable climbing Knox Mountain on the coldest days you'll ride.

WHO IS THIS FOR

These tights are for committed road riders who train through the Okanagan winter and want Rapha's highest level of cold-weather protection. Rapha rates them for freezing to cold conditions, -2 to 5°C. They score 4/5 for both insulation and breathability, 3/5 for wind protection, and 3/5 for water resistance. They are not waterproof, but they handle damp roads and spray much better than a standard winter tight. The compressive, supportive fit and premium chamois are made for long, hard training hours. Rapha recommends pairing them with a Pro Team Shadow long sleeve jersey or winter jacket in colder conditions.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right size and fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to talk gear and activity with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

FAQ

Q1: How does Rapha sizing run — true to size, or should I size up/down?
Rapha describes the Pro Team Winter Tights III as an engaged fit, with a compressive, supportive feel in the legs. Pro Team garments fit closer than Rapha's Core range. Because the fit is compressive, we recommend trying them on in-store at either Fresh Air location.

Q2: Are these tights suitable for cold, damp Okanagan winter rides?
Yes. Rapha rates them for -2 to 5°C [VERIFY: the specification table on Rapha's page lists 2–5°C, while the product description lists -2–5°C]. The DWR-coated front panels and back-of-knee coating handle wet roads and spray well, with a water-resistance rating of 3/5. They are not waterproof, so for steady rain or slush, add rain protection or wait for a drier day.

Q3: How do I care for DWR-coated technical fabric to maintain performance?
Close all fasteners, place the tights in a laundry bag, and machine wash at 30°C on a low spin cycle. Use a small amount of non-bio liquid detergent. Do not use powder detergent, fabric softener, fragrance chemicals, stain removers, or bleach. Rinse twice after washing, then tumble dry on low heat to reactivate the DWR coating. Do not iron or dry clean. Main leg fabric is 79% recycled nylon/21% elastane, the secondary leg fabric is 85% nylon/15% elastane, and the upper is 92% recycled polyester/8% elastane.
