Product details

Anyone who has ridden the rocky, technical lines on Knox Mountain knows what happens when a foot slips off a pedal. The POC VPD Shins are made for exactly that moment. Soft, flexible and highly ventilated VPD padding covers the shin against pedal strikes, scrapes and flying stones. The pad sits inside a breathable polyamide-elastane sleeve for comfort against the skin. A durable fabric on the front stands up to knocks and scuffs, and the top cuff tucks under POC's VPD Max Knee pads for continuous coverage from knee to shin.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

The VPD Shins are for enduro and downhill riders who want extra coverage in technical terrain without the bulk of a hard-shell guard. They're a good fit for riders working on steeper, rockier trails or riding flat pedals, where a slipped foot can mean a painful pedal strike. Pair them with VPD Max Knee pads if you want coverage from knee to ankle. Note that this is lightweight, uncertified padding designed for comfort and scrape protection, not a certified impact protector.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to work with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

FAQ

Q1: How do I find the right size POC VPD Shins?
The VPD Shins come in two sizes: XS–S and M–L. Compare your leg measurements to POC's size chart to choose. The sleeve should feel snug enough that the pad stays centred on your shin while pedalling, without pinching or cutting off circulation. If you're between sizes, try both on in-store with your riding shoes and knee pads.

Q2: Are the POC VPD Shins compatible with knee pads?
Yes. The top cuff is designed to fit under POC's VPD Max Knee protectors, giving you seamless coverage from the knee down the shin. Fit with other brands' knee pads will vary depending on how far the knee pad extends down the leg. Bring your current pads in and our staff will help you check the overlap.

Q3: Are the VPD Shins certified protection, and when should I wear them?
No. POC describes the VPD Shins as uncertified, lightweight padding. They're designed to take the sting out of pedal strikes, scrapes and flying stones, not to meet an impact protection standard. They make sense for enduro and downhill riding in technical terrain, especially on flat pedals. If you're looking for certified impact protection, ask our staff about certified options.
