Mission Creek Greenway and the Okanagan Rail Trail offer the perfect backdrop for young riders building trail confidence — and the Norco Storm 26 is designed exactly for those moments. With a lightweight aluminum frame, 100mm of front suspension, and Shimano 6-speed gearing, it gives kids the tools to tackle rolling terrain and singletrack without being overwhelmed. Mechanical disc brakes and 26" wheels round out a build that prioritizes reliability, safety, and real riding feel for riders ready to step up from their first bike.

KEY FEATURES

Aluminum hardtail frame sized specifically for riders 4'4"–4'10" (132–147cm), with internal cable routing through the front triangle and a tapered head tube for a clean, confidence-inspiring build.

SR Suntour XCE Coil fork with 100mm travel and preload adjust — enough compliance to take the edge off roots and rocks without adding unnecessary weight or complexity.

Shimano 6-speed drivetrain — Shimano RV200 shifter, Shimano TZ500 rear derailleur, and Shimano TZ500 6-speed 14-28T cassette paired with a 28T narrow/wide chainring and integrated chainguard to keep the chain where it belongs.

C-Star 2-piston mechanical disc brakes with 160mm rotors front and rear, operated by C-Star Alloy Jr. reach-adjustable levers — modulation young riders can actually control.

Double-wall aluminum rims (28-hole) laced with stainless 14g spokes to Formula quick-release hubs, shod with CY Trail 26" x 2.25" wire-bead tires.

Recommended for riders approximately 4'4"–4'10" (132–147cm)

26" wheel size

C-Star Alloy Jr. brake levers with reach adjust — designed for smaller hands with two-finger modulation in mind.

WHO IS THIS FOR

The Storm 26 is built for school-age riders — roughly ages 9–12 — who are moving beyond the basics and ready to explore natural terrain like gravel paths, light singletrack, and trail riding. They'll appreciate the mechanical disc brakes for confident stopping in variable conditions, and the 6-speed gearing for handling Kelowna's hilly greenways and gradual trail climbs without grinding to a halt. This is a bike for kids who want to keep up, go further, and actually shred.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to work with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

FAQ

Q1: What size Norco Storm 26 do I need?
The Storm 26 is designed for one size range: riders approximately 4'4"–4'10" (132–147cm) tall, which typically corresponds to ages 9–12. If your child is at the lower or upper end of that range, it's worth coming in so we can check standover height and reach before you commit. Norco's geometry details are available on their website — see the chart link in the Geometry & Sizing section above.

Q2: Is the Norco Storm 26 right for the Okanagan Rail Trail or Mission Creek Greenway?
Absolutely. The Storm 26 is well-suited to paved and packed-gravel paths like the Okanagan Rail Trail and Mission Creek Greenway, as well as light natural-surface trails. The 100mm fork takes the edge off rough sections, and the 6-speed gearing handles gentle grades without fuss. For young riders looking to explore these routes independently or alongside parents, it's a confident, capable choice.

Q3: How do I know when my child has outgrown their bike?
A few signs: their knees are hitting the handlebar at the top of the pedal stroke, they can't extend their leg properly at the bottom of the stroke even with the seat raised all the way, or they feel cramped and uncomfortable on longer rides. If you're not sure, bring your child in — our team can assess fit quickly and let you know whether the Storm 26 is still right for them or if it's time to size up.
