Mission Creek Greenway and the family-friendly trails around Knox Mountain are the perfect place to start building real skills on two wheels — and the Norco Storm 24 is built for exactly that. Designed for riders between 4'1" and 4'8", it pairs a lightweight aluminum frame with size-tuned 80mm suspension travel, mechanical disc brakes that stop reliably in any condition, and a simple 6-speed gripshift drivetrain that keeps the focus where it belongs: having fun on the trail.

KEY FEATURES

Frame: Lightweight aluminum with geometry optimized for 24" wheels and young riders; 9x135mm QR rear axle dropout; built to take the knocks of learning on dirt

Fork: SR Suntour XCT Coil with soft spring and preload adjustment, 80mm of travel, 9x100mm QR — tuned for rider weight to make trail features approachable without adding unnecessary weight

Drivetrain: Alloy 3-piece crankset (140mm arms, 28T narrow-wide chainring), Shimano TZ-500 6-speed rear derailleur, Shimano SL-RV200-6R gripshift shifters — intuitive for small hands still learning the gears, with a wide 14-28T freewheel range for climbs

Brakes: Tektro Aries mechanical disc brakes front and rear with 160mm rotors and resin pads; Tektro Aries alloy junior levers with reach adjust so shorter fingers can pull with confidence

Wheels & tyres: Aluminum double-wall 24" MTB rims (28h), Formula DC-series hubs, stainless steel spokes with brass nipples, CY Trail 24x2.25" wire-bead tyres

Cockpit: Alloy junior riser bar 600mm wide, 30mm rise; 40mm alloy stem; Norco Youth grips (115mm); Norco Jr XC saddle on a 27.2mm alloy seatpost with 250mm of adjustment range

Recommended age / height range: Riders 122–140cm (4'1"–4'8"), typically ages 7 and up

WHO IS THIS FOR

The Storm 24 is built for kids in roughly the 7–10 age range who are ready to step up from smaller wheels and start exploring real singletrack. Whether they're sessioning beginner features at Knox Mountain or putting in laps on the Mission Creek Greenway, they'll benefit from a bike that fits properly — with disc brakes that stop reliably and a drivetrain simple enough to let them focus on riding, not shifting. Riders who are already comfortable on a 20" and want more speed, more stability, and more room to grow will find the Storm 24 hits the sweet spot.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to work with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

FAQ

Q1: What size Norco Storm 24 do I need?
The Storm 24 comes in one size, designed for riders between 122–140cm (approximately 4'1"–4'8"). If you're unsure whether 24" wheels are the right step for your child right now, our team can assess their height, inseam, and current bike fit to confirm. Norco's full geometry chart is available at norco.com/bikes/youth/youth-trail/storm-youth-kids/2027-storm-24/.

Q2: Is the Norco Storm 24 a good fit for the trails around Kelowna?
The Storm 24 is a great choice for family rides on the Mission Creek Greenway and beginner-friendly singletrack at Knox Mountain. Its 80mm suspension fork and mechanical disc brakes give young riders the confidence to handle variable terrain and small trail features as their skills develop. For more technical riding, our team can advise whether a step up in travel or wheel size makes sense for where your child is headed next.

Q3: How do I know when my child has outgrown their bike?
A few clear signs: knees approaching the handlebars, saddle maxed out with no room to raise it further, or a general look of being cramped on the bike. As a rough guide, a child who has outgrown a 20" is usually ready for 24" wheels, and one who has outgrown 24" is typically moving to 26" or 27.5". If you're not sure, bring your child into either Fresh Air location and we can assess the fit in person — it only takes a few minutes.
