Whether it's a family loop out the Okanagan Rail Trail or a first real lap of Knox Mountain, older kids are ready for a bike that rides like the real thing — and the Norco Charger Youth 26 delivers that. It's the largest size in Norco's youth trail line, built with an aluminum frame, air-sprung fork, and a proper 9-speed drivetrain so pre-teens get genuine trail performance without being handed down an adult-sized bike too soon.

KEY FEATURES

Frame: Lightweight aluminum youth-specific frame with a low standover and progressive, kid-focused geometry that scales up from the smaller Charger models.

Drivetrain: Shimano CUES 9-speed with an 11–46T cassette and 28T narrow-wide chainring for a wide range on climbs and open trail.

Brakes: Tektro HD-M286 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors front and rear for strong, predictable stopping power.

Wheels / Tyres: 26" double-wall aluminum rims with 26 x 2.25" CY Trail tyres for confident grip on mixed terrain.

Recommended age / height: Best suited to riders roughly 11+ years old, 145cm and taller

Hand brake type: Tektro HD-M286 hydraulic 2-finger junior levers, sized for a growing rider's hands.

Standout feature: SR Suntour air-sprung fork with approx. 80mm of travel, tuned for lighter riders to smooth out roots and rocks.

HOW TO SET UP

Before your child heads out, our team will get the saddle height dialled so they're pedaling comfortably with room to grow, and adjust the Tektro brake levers for a proper two-finger reach. We'll also run through tyre pressure suited to local trail conditions, so they get good grip without feeling harsh on hardpack. A quick helmet fit check finishes things off — level, snug, and ready to ride. As your rider grows, bring the bike back in for a quick recheck on saddle height and lever reach.

Drop into Fresh Air Pandosy (555 Groves Ave) or Fresh Air Dilworth (1656 Dilworth Drive), or book an appointment online.

FAQ

Q: What size Norco Charger Youth do I need?
The Charger Youth comes in 20", 24", and 26" wheel sizes, generally suited to riders from about 5 years old through early teens depending on height and inseam. The 26" model is built for riders roughly 11 and up, 145cm and taller. Check the full geometry chart linked above, and our team at either Kelowna location can help confirm the right fit in person.

Q: Is the Charger Youth 26 right for family rides on Knox Mountain?
Yes — the Charger Youth 26's air-sprung fork, wide-range 9-speed drivetrain, and hydraulic disc brakes give older kids the control and stopping power they need for the climbs and descents on Knox Mountain's trails, while still handling comfortably on easier paths.

Q: How do I know when my child has outgrown their bike?
Watch for their knees coming up near the handlebars when pedaling, a saddle that's maxed out on height, or a riding position that looks cramped. Our team can do a quick fit check in-store and let you know if it's time to size up.
