Product details

From deep days in the Big White glades to skinning up for fresh lines beyond the Silver Star boundary, freeride skiing is hard on poles. The Deorum Apollo FR is built to handle it. Designed by BC-based Deorum Ski Co, it's an adjustable freeride pole made from 7075 aluminium alloy that extends from 100 to 140 cm. An all-metal clamp with a stainless steel latch bolt and semi-flush lever lets you fine-tune clamping tension and prevents unwanted pole separation. The 350 mm, 360° high-density EVA foam grip gives you secure hand placement on long sidehill traverses and skin-track climbs, and a solid hold on big landings. Every part is modular and replaceable, so you can repair the Apollo FR instead of replacing the whole pole.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

The Apollo FR is for freeride and backcountry skiers who want a durable adjustable pole they can trust in the resort, on the skin track and when the landings get big. It's also a great fit for skiers who like to film their days, thanks to Deorum's aftermarket camera mounts.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to work with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

FAQ

Q1: How do I find the right length for the Apollo FR?
The Apollo FR adjusts from 100 to 140 cm, so one pair covers most adult skiers. For a resort starting point, flip the pole upside down and grip it just below the basket. Your elbow should sit at about 90°.

For touring, adjust the length to the terrain:

Lengthen the poles slightly for flat approaches.
Shorten the uphill pole on long sidehill traverses.

The laser-etched length markings make it easy to return to your preferred settings.

Q2: Is the Apollo FR compatible with camera mounts?
Yes. Deorum designed the Apollo FR to work with its aftermarket camera accessories, including the Quarter Mount, Mono Mount and XL Top Cap. If you plan to mount a camera on the basket, choose the RAV powder basket version. It's built to hold a camera without rotating.

Q3: Are adjustable poles strong enough for freeride skiing?
The Apollo FR was built specifically for that question. It uses 7075 aluminium alloy, and the clamp and hardware are 100% metal, with a stainless steel latch bolt that lets you fine-tune clamping tension to prevent unwanted separation. If something does get damaged, Deorum sells replacement parts, including lower shafts, straps, top caps and clamps. You can repair the pole instead of replacing the pair.
