Fast, playful lines through Black Knight and Spion Kop are exactly what the Fuel+ MX 9.8 XT was built to chase. Trek's OCLV Mountain Carbon frame pairs with the whisper-quiet TQ HPR60 motor and a big 580Wh battery to help you back up for another lap, while a Fox Factory 36 fork (160mm) and Fox Factory Float X shock (150mm) soak up the terrain. Mixed 29"/27.5" wheels keep the front end confident and the rear end quick and flickable, backed by Shimano's wireless XT Di2 12-speed drivetrain and XT M8200 4-piston brakes.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This bike suits an advanced rider who wants a fast, playful e-MTB for launching jumps, carving corners, and chasing quick line changes through spots like Black Knight and Spion Kop, without giving up serious climbing support to get there. They'll appreciate the mixed-wheel handling, the crisp, maintenance-friendly feel of wireless Di2 shifting, and the extra range and power of the HPR60 motor over the previous-generation Fuel EXe.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to work with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

HOW TO SET UP

As a Trek dealer, our team can walk you through the TQ display and app setup, and personalize your assist modes to balance power and range for the terrain you ride most. We'll set your sag, rebound, and compression on the Fox 36 fork and Float X shock to match your weight and riding style, and walk you through the flip-chip leverage-rate adjustment. We'll also pair and set up your Shimano XT Di2 shifting, route your Bontrager Line dropper post, and get your tyres set up tubeless with the right pressure front and rear for the mixed-wheel setup. We offer ongoing e-bike servicing, firmware updates, and suspension tuning as your riding progresses. Drop into Fresh Air Pandosy (555 Groves Ave) or Fresh Air Dilworth (1656 Dilworth Drive), or book an appointment online.

FAQ

Q1: What size Trek Fuel+ MX 9.8 XT do I need?
The Fuel+ MX 9.8 XT comes in three sizes — M, L, and XL — with dropper post travel and cockpit dimensions scaled to fit. General sizing follows your height and riding style, but the best way to confirm your size is an in-person fit — our team at either Kelowna location can get you set up correctly.

Q2: Is the Fuel+ MX 9.8 XT right for Black Knight and Spion Kop trails?
Yes — with 160mm/150mm of travel, aggressive Maxxis Assegai and Minion DHR II tyres, and powerful XT M8200 4-piston brakes, the Fuel+ MX is well suited to the fast, technical, and playful lines found on Black Knight and Spion Kop.

Q3: How do I set up the suspension on the Fuel+ MX 9.8 for my weight and riding style?
Suspension setup starts with sag — typically 25–30% on the fork and shock for aggressive trail riding — then fine-tuning rebound and compression to your weight and terrain preference. The Fuel+ MX also has a flip chip in the lower shock mount to adjust leverage rate for a more or less progressive feel. Our team can walk you through all of this and get your suspension properly dialled in-store.
