Rough, technical lines through Okanagan Mountain Park and repeat shuttle laps off Knox Mountain call for real travel and reliable power to get you back to the top. Trek's OCLV Mountain Carbon frame pairs with the whisper-quiet TQ HPR60 motor and a big 580Wh battery for the climbs, then hands off to a Fox Factory 38 fork (170mm) and a Fox DHX2 coil shock (160mm) for the descents — all shifted by Shimano's dependable mechanical XT 12-speed drivetrain and stopped by XT M8200 4-piston brakes.

KEY FEATURES

Frame: OCLV Mountain Carbon frame with a removable battery, angle-adjust headset, adjustable leverage-rate flip chip, Active Braking Pivot, and adaptable travel from 145mm to 160mm

Motor: TQ-HPR60 motor, ultra-compact and whisper-quiet, with 60Nm of torque and 350 watts of peak power, kicking in at a lower cadence for an earlier boost

Fork / Rear Shock: Fox Factory 38 fork with Float EVOL air spring and GRIP X2 damper (170mm travel), paired with a Fox DHX2 coil shock (160mm travel)

Drivetrain: Shimano XT M8100 12-speed shifter and long-cage rear derailleur, Ethirteen Espec Plus crank with a Helix Core steel 32T chainring, Shimano XT M8200 10-51 cassette

Brakes: Shimano XT M8200 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes with Shimano RT86 203mm rotors

Standout feature: OCLV Mountain Carbon rear wheel paired with an interchangeable rocker link and lower shock mount, letting you reconfigure travel and geometry across EX, MX, and LX setups on the same frame

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This bike is built for an advanced rider chasing rough, technical terrain in Okanagan Mountain Park or repeat shuttle laps off Knox Mountain, who wants a full-power e-MTB without giving up climbing capability. They'll appreciate the plush coil-shock feel through square-edge hits, the reliable low-maintenance feel of mechanical XT shifting, and the extra range and power of the HPR60 motor over the previous-generation Fuel EXe.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to work with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

HOW TO SET UP

As a Trek dealer, our team can walk you through the TQ display and app setup, and personalize your assist modes to balance power and range for the terrain you ride most. We'll help select the right coil spring rate for your weight on the DHX2 shock and set sag and rebound on the Fox 38 fork, plus walk you through the flip-chip leverage-rate adjustment. We'll also route and adjust your Bontrager Line dropper post, and get your tyres set up tubeless with the right pressure. We offer ongoing e-bike servicing, firmware updates, and suspension tuning as your riding progresses. Drop into Fresh Air Pandosy (555 Groves Ave) or Fresh Air Dilworth (1656 Dilworth Drive), or book an appointment online.

FAQ

Q1: What size Trek Fuel+ LX 9.8 XT Gen 2 do I need?
The Fuel+ LX 9.8 XT Gen 2 comes in five sizes — S, M, L, XL, and XXL — with dropper post travel and coil spring rate scaled to each size. General sizing follows your height and riding style, but the best way to confirm your size — and the right coil spring weight — is an in-person fit; our team at either Kelowna location can get you set up correctly.

Q2: Is the Fuel+ LX 9.8 XT Gen 2 right for Okanagan Mountain Park?
Yes — with 170mm/160mm of coil-sprung travel, aggressive Maxxis Assegai and Minion DHR II tyres, and powerful XT M8200 4-piston brakes, this bike is built for exactly the kind of rough, technical terrain found in Okanagan Mountain Park and the steeper descents off Knox Mountain.

Q3: How do I set up the suspension on the Fuel+ LX 9.8 for my weight and riding style?
Coil suspension setup starts with choosing the correct spring rate for your weight — our team stocks a range of Fox coil springs to get you dialled in — then setting sag (typically 25–30%) and fine-tuning rebound and compression on the fork and shock. The flip chip in the lower shock mount also lets you adjust leverage rate for a plusher or more progressive feel. Our team can walk you through all of this and get your suspension properly set up in-store.
