WHO IS THIS FOR?

This bike is built for an intermediate-to-advanced rider who wants one bike capable of long, technical climbs up Knox Mountain and confident, aggressive descents through Okanagan Mountain Park. They'll appreciate the adjustable geometry and travel range for tuning the bike to their local trails, the reliable mechanical shifting of Shimano XT, and the in-frame storage that keeps hydration packs optional on shorter rides.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to work with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

HOW TO SET UP

Our team can set your sag, rebound, and compression on both the Fox 36 fork and Float X shock to match your weight and riding style, and walk you through the flip-chip leverage rate adjustment if you want to fine-tune bottom-out resistance. We'll route and set up your Bontrager Line dropper post for full use of its travel, and get your tyres set up tubeless with the correct pressure for local trail conditions. We also offer ongoing suspension servicing and tuning as your riding progresses. Drop into Fresh Air Pandosy (555 Groves Ave) or Fresh Air Dilworth (1656 Dilworth Drive), or book an appointment online.

FAQ

Q1: What size Trek Fuel EX 9.8 XT Gen 7 do I need?
The Fuel EX 9.8 XT Gen 7 comes in five sizes — S, M, L, XL, and XXL — with dropper post travel and wheel size (27.5" rear on size S, 29" on M–XXL) scaled to fit. General sizing follows your height and riding style, but the best way to confirm your size is an in-person fit — our team at either Kelowna location can get you set up correctly.

Q2: Is the Fuel EX 9.8 XT Gen 7 right for Knox Mountain and Okanagan Mountain Park trails?
Yes — with 150mm/145mm of travel, aggressive Maxxis Minion tyres, and 4-piston XT brakes, the Fuel EX is well suited to the climbs and technical descents found on Knox Mountain, Hydraulink Trails, and through Okanagan Mountain Park.

Q3: How do I set up the suspension on the Fuel EX 9.8 for my weight and riding style?
Suspension setup starts with sag — typically 25–30% on the fork and shock for trail riding — then fine-tuning rebound and compression to your weight and terrain preference. The Fuel EX also has a flip chip in the lower shock mount to adjust leverage rate for more or less progressive feel. Our team can walk you through all of this and get your suspension properly dialled in-store.
