FAQ

What flex rating is best for a beginner snowboarder?
Most beginners do well with a flex in the 2–5 range (soft to medium). A softer flex is more forgiving on turn initiation, easier to flex into the right shape when you're still building muscle memory, and less punishing when your weight distribution isn't quite dialed in yet. The Haven's 4/10 flex sits right in that sweet spot — soft enough to be forgiving, but with enough structure that it won't feel sloppy as your skills progress.

How does a BOA® lacing system compare to traditional laces?
BOA® uses a dial-and-cable system instead of laces you tie by hand. The main advantages are even, micro-adjustable tension across the whole boot, quick tightening/loosening (even with gloves on), and no laces to come undone mid-run. Traditional laces can sometimes give a more customized feel in specific zones since you can tension sections independently, but they take longer to put on and adjust, and can loosen throughout the day. For a boot like the Haven aimed at riders who want convenience and consistency, BOA® is generally the easier system to live with.

How often should a heat-moldable liner be re-molded?
There's no strict schedule — it depends on fit and use. Many riders heat-mold once at purchase and are set for the life of the liner, unless the fit changes (packs out, feels loose, or you want to fine-tune pressure points). Riding heavily for a full season or two can pack out the foam enough that a re-mold is worth it to restore that snug, personalized fit. It's always best to have it done by a shop with the right equipment rather than trying it at home, since overheating can damage the foam.
