FAQ

Q. What does a 5/10 flex rating mean on a snowboard?
A flex rating of 5 out of 10 falls in the medium range, meaning the Gateway Pop isn't as soft and forgiving as a beginner park board, but it's also not as stiff as a board built purely for high-speed stability. A medium flex gives you a board that's easy to press and maneuver at slower speeds while still holding its own on firmer snow and at moderate speeds, which is why it works well across the varied terrain you'll find at both Big White and Silver Star.

Q. Is the K2 Gateway Pop good for beginners, or is it just for intermediate/advanced riders?
K2 rates the Gateway Pop as an intermediate to advanced board, meaning it's best suited to riders who have already moved past the beginner stage and are comfortable linking turns and riding varied terrain. Its medium flex and directional shape reward riders with some mileage under their boots, though a strong beginner who's progressing quickly could still grow into it comfortably.

Q. What's the difference between a directional and a twin snowboard shape?
A directional shape has a slightly longer nose and setback stance, which helps the board perform better in powder and at speed, while a true twin is symmetrical front to back for equal performance riding switch. The Gateway Pop uses a directional twin shape, blending the two — it looks and rides symmetrically enough for switch riding and park laps, while still keeping the directional traits that help it float and stay stable on bigger all-mountain terrain.
