Product details

Some mornings at Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre and SilverStar, the thermometer barely moves and the wind cuts straight through a lighter layer. The Craft ADV Pursuit Thermal Jacket is a warm, insulated cross-country ski jacket made for those days. Insulation sits across the front, where you meet the cold head-on. Wind- and water-protective fabric covers the sleeves, sides and lower back, and a breathable panel at the upper back releases heat as you work. It keeps you warm on long descents and comfortable on hard climbs through the Okanagan's coldest, driest stretch of winter.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

The ADV Pursuit Thermal Jacket is for cross-country skiers who keep training when temperatures drop well below freezing. It suits skate and classic skiers logging kilometres at Sovereign Lake, regulars on the SilverStar Nordic trails, and anyone who finds a race-weight jacket too cold for frigid mornings but a downhill jacket too bulky for Nordic skiing. The regular fit leaves room for a base layer underneath, and the hood is useful on exposed, windy sections of trail.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right size and fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to talk gear and activity with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

FAQ

Q1: How does Craft sizing run — true to size, or should I size up/down (and does it accommodate a base/mid-layer)?
Craft lists the ADV Pursuit Thermal Jacket as a regular fit. It's cut with enough room for a base layer underneath without feeling restrictive. If you plan to wear a thicker mid-layer on very cold days, try it on over that layer to check the fit through the shoulders and arms. Craft's men's size chart is a good starting point, and our staff can help you compare sizes in-store.

Q2: Is this jacket warm and waterproof enough for cross-country skiing at Sovereign Lake or SilverStar on very cold days?
It's built for exactly that. Craft designed it for Nordic skiing in very cold conditions. The 80 gsm front insulation adds warmth on descents and in headwinds. The 3-layer wind- and water-protective fabric on the sleeves, sides and lower back blocks wind and handles dry Okanagan snow well. Craft describes this fabric as water-protective rather than fully waterproof, so for wet, slushy spring sessions a dedicated shell is the better choice. For high-intensity skiing in sub-zero temperatures, it's an excellent fit.

Q3: How do I care for the 3-layer wind- and water-protective fabric to maintain waterproofing and breathability?
Always follow the care label first. As a general rule, wash technical outerwear on a cool, gentle cycle with a mild detergent made for technical fabrics, skip fabric softener (it can clog the fabric and reduce breathability), and close all zips before washing. Hang to dry. Washing regularly removes sweat and dirt that can reduce the fabric's performance over a season.
