Product details

Some storm days at Big White or SilverStar call for a jacket with as much attitude as the snowpack. The Sidewinder is Arc'teryx's 25-year remake of the legendary freeride shell that first proved GORE-TEX could handle burly lines as well as uptracks, now refined for women. Its signature curved zipper sits in front of your chin to seal out wind-driven snow without chafing. Tough 100D GORE-TEX PRO ePE, with ripstop reinforcement on the shoulders and sleeves, stands up to tree wells, rocks, and deep Okanagan powder days.

WHO IS THIS FOR

The Sidewinder is for women who ski and ride with style and want their shell to keep up: freeriders chasing glades and steeps at Big White and SilverStar, side-country explorers, and anyone drawn to Arc'teryx's freeride heritage. It pairs top-tier GORE-TEX PRO ePE protection with a relaxed, colour-blocked look that stands out on the mountain. The relaxed cut leaves plenty of room for layers underneath on the coldest Okanagan days.

Our team at Fresh Air will help you find the right size and fit in-store at both Kelowna locations. Stop by to talk gear and activity with one of our experienced staff members, or call 250-763-3425.

FAQ

Q1: How does Arc'teryx sizing run? Should I size up or down, and will it fit over a base and mid-layer?
The Sidewinder has Arc'teryx's relaxed fit. It's cut loosely through the chest, waist, and hip for comfort and freedom of movement, while keeping clean lines. That leaves plenty of room for a base layer and mid-layer underneath. The centre back length is 25" (63cm) in a size S, and it comes in XXS to XXL. Because the relaxed cut fits differently from Arc'teryx's regular-fit shells, we recommend trying it on in-store with the layers you plan to ski in.

Q2: Is this jacket warm and waterproof enough for storm days at Big White and SilverStar?
For waterproofing, yes. The 3-layer GORE-TEX PRO ePE construction is waterproof, windproof, and breathable, and the curved zipper, helmet-compatible StormHood, gusseted cuffs, and hem cinch seal out wind and snow. For warmth, keep in mind it's a shell, not an insulated jacket. The flannel backer adds comfort, but on cold lift-served days you'll want an insulated mid-layer underneath.

Q3: How do I care for GORE-TEX PRO ePE to keep it waterproof and breathable?
Close all zippers and fastenings, then machine wash on medium. Wash it separately, without fabric softener or bleach, and double rinse. Tumble dry on medium and remove it right away. Don't leave it sitting wet, and don't dry clean or iron it. Arc'teryx notes that the face fabric on ePE shells can wet out a little faster than on older membranes. This doesn't affect the waterproof membrane itself. A wash and tumble dry restores the DWR.
