Q1: How does Arc'teryx sizing run — true to size, or should I size up/down (and does it accommodate a base/mid-layer)?
The Proton Hoody has a fitted cut with articulated patterning designed to stay close to the body, so most people find their usual Arc'teryx size works well. It's built to layer over a base layer and under a shell, so if you're planning heavier layering underneath, sizing up is worth considering — our in-store team can help you find the right fit.

Q2: Is this hoody warm and breathable enough for high-output days at Big White or SilverStar?
The Proton Hoody is built specifically for high-output mountain use — its air-permeable insulation and face fabric are designed to regulate temperature and vent moisture on bootpacks, skin tracks, and hikes, then keep you warm again once you slow down. It isn't a waterproof shell, so pair it with one on wetter, snowier days.

Q3: How do I care for the fabric to maintain its water repellency and breathability?
Machine wash on a gentle, low-temperature cycle and tumble dry on low. Avoid bleach, fabric softener, and dry cleaning, wash dark colours separately, and skip the iron. Keeping the DWR finish clean helps it continue to repel moisture and keeps the fabric breathing properly.
